Lord Mustill (1931-2015)

Statement from Lord Neuberger, President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom on behalf of the Justices of the Supreme Court

28 April 2015

"We are saddened to learn of the death of Lord Mustill, who served as a Lord of Appeal in Ordinary between 1992 and 1997.

Lord Mustill combined compassion, considerateness, breadth of vision and wit with modesty and a brilliance unforgettable by anyone one who had the pleasure of working with him or appearing before him. He was an outstanding Law Lord whose service to the profession and society was marked by an abiding determination to ensure that the law was both clear and fair in all the areas which he addressed with such distinction, and whose contributions in fields as diverse as commercial and criminal law were particularly notable.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to his wife and family at this time."
