Revised Practice Directions

Changes that have come into effect from February 2013
Practice Direction 3

The amendment to Practice Direction 3 emphasises the need for appellants to provide the information required by section 5 of Form 1 and that the Court favours brevity and clarity. The amendment to paragraph 3.3.3 makes it clear that the reasons given for refusing permission to appeal are not to be regarded as having any value as a precedent.

Practice Direction 6

The amendment to paragraph 6.5.7 makes it clear that, where online versions of textbooks or academic authorities are used, the front sheet or first page must be included so that the date of the relevant edition and other such information is provided.

Paragraph 6.6.10 is inserted to remind Counsel of the House of Lords' Practice Statement of 22 May 2008.
